Update on June 17 Meeting with the Division of Insurance

On June 17, our lobbyist Steve Panagiotakos, along with members of the Mass Chiro Committee, met with Kevin Beagan of the Massachusetts Division of Insurance (DOI) to address key issues impacting chiropractic care in our state.

While the meeting lacked the momentum we had hoped for, our intent was clear: to bring attention to concerns regarding the DOI’s recently implemented carrier-specific update. This update, presented in the form of a revised spreadsheet from 2018, outlines what each carrier deems “sufficient” coverage for chiropractic services. Unfortunately, it reflects a deeply flawed and outdated approach—and it signals the need for stronger advocacy moving forward.

This is a much larger issue than one meeting can solve. It will require us—the Massachusetts chiropractic community—to organize, unite, and show up. We need more than the same small handful of committed doctors. We need strength in numbers.

Here’s What You Can Do:

  • Volunteer to serve on insurance outreach or negotiation committees.
  • Help us schedule meetings with carriers.
  • Step forward to advocate for fair coverage and reimbursement on behalf of your practice and patients.

We are stronger together. If you’re frustrated by reimbursement issues, policy ambiguity, or being overlooked—now is the time to engage.

We need you. Your patients need you. Our profession needs you.

We remain committed to advocating on your behalf and will keep the profession informed with updates following the meeting.
